Just a short snippet here about the author Chad Peterson. My daughter paid me a very high compliment, “If my Dad can’t fix it, it ain’t broke.”

Where I’ve Been

I’ve spent most of my life fixing things — furnaces, air conditioners, and sometimes a few of my own mistakes. These days, I spend more time sharing what I’ve learned than crawling under houses. I’m not here to go viral or become some kind of influencer.

I’m just documenting the things that worked, the things that didn’t, and whatever’s next.

In my 78th year, I’ve been blessed with good health and reached what some would call the tail end of a long career in mechanical contracting. I don’t like the word, but technically, I’m retired.

What I’ve Tried

A few years ago, I started a blog focused on my HVAC experience. It was a mix of product reviews, how-to articles, and affiliate links to Amazon. It started to gain traction. I even earned a few featured snippets. Revenue trickled in, and I thought, “Hey, this works.”

Then came Google’s updates. Traffic dropped. My once-promising blog started slipping, and after digging in, I realized I’d made a mess of the structure, content, and SEO. It felt overwhelming to fix.

That site still lives at HomeHeatProblems.com, but its average Google position is now somewhere near retirement, too — resting in the low 20s. Revenue? A few dollars a month.

What I’m Doing Now?

That brings me back to my goal…what am I talking about? I’ve never done goals. I just have ideas and go do them.

What’s This Site About?

This site is my fresh start — not locked into one niche. Here, I share:

  • Solopreneur stories from decades of work and side projects
  • What I’ve learned from building vacation rentals
  • Thoughts on affiliate marketing, blogging, and staying relevant in semi-retirement

Why I’m Doing This

Like I said, I’m not chasing viral traffic. I’m just sharing what I’ve learned, writing in my own voice, and building something that reflects who I am. If that resonates with someone, great. If not, well…at least I’m still learning something new.
