And Which Chad Peterson Is This?
Who Is Chad Peterson?
It’s become a common name, and there seems to be more than one of us. I’m the old one.
I have been suffering from indecision regarding my retirement, so my default is that sometimes I prefer to be semi-retired.
In my 79th year, I’ve been blessed with good health and have reached what you might call the tail end of my career (ya think?) as a mechanical contractor.
So, I still take service calls and limit my work by saying no attics or crawl spaces.
My wife and I have been married for almost 50 years and have each been married twice. We had five kids the day we got married: three of hers and two of mine. Also, my boys returned to live with their mom on our wedding day.
About five years later, we started adding two boys and a girl to our family. Together, we had a boat (yacht) full of experiences, some good and some not so good.
A few years ago, I began a blog about my HVAC experiences, thinking I could supplement my retirement income. It was an affiliate site that mostly sold Amazon products and featured some ads.
The site began to grow, and some revenue began to trickle in, and I thought, Wow, this is great! I even garnished more than a few snippets—yeah, snippets—those articles that rank #1 on page one on Google.
Then, the Google updates began to pick away at the traffic.
Then AI came along and robbed nearly all the #1 positions.
As I studied and dug into the problem, I found I had been making so many mistakes that it began to seem overwhelming and unrepairable.
You might say that my average position in Google search is also retired, resting in or around an average of 25th place. Revenue has dropped to a few dollar bills per month.
That brings me back to that goal.
I’ve begun a new journey here at byChadPeterson.com In the last 47 years as a contractor, I’ve learned a lot, and I want to share this knowledge with anyone interested in blogging and digital marketing.
I still have a lot to learn, and that’s what we all must understand. We are all on the road to developing ourselves into the next best thing, improving our skills and understanding the very complex systems of AI and the IoT.
