Central Oregon Vacation Rental

1 Incredible Central Oregon Vacation Rental

My wife called this Central Oregon vacation rental incredible because of its amazing view and long history of five-star ratings.

Pete’s Cabin is on Twenty acres and surrounded on 3 sides by government land.

We purchased this property in 2002 because of the unbelievable views of the Crooked River, Prineville Reservoir, Maury Mountains, and our own painted hills.

Our painted hills are not as magnificent as the real Painted Hills Unit, but they make a beautiful addition to our view. The color doesn’t pop out like it does in real life. This was taken with a phone.

What to Expect During Your Getaway at Pete’s Cabin, a Central Oregon Vacation Rental

Peace and quiet for the whole family. My daughter and I were walking toward the trails and government land near the cabin when she said, “Dad, do you hear that?” I replied, “What?’ She said, “Nothing!”. The silence is often deafening.

We often had our own family reunions at Pete’s Cabin

You can turn your visit to Pete’s Cabin into any kind of visit. Relax in front of a warm fireplace, read a book, or take day trips to the surrounding attractions. Soak in the hot tub or take a hike on the nearby trails.

You are less than a mile from a state park rated one of our nation’s international dark sky parks, so in my opinion, Pete’s Cabin is in a dark sky area. So bring a telescope or binoculars.

Possible Pros And Cons Of Your Central Oregon Vacation Rental Experience

Having managed two Central Oregon vacation rental homes for 20 years, we are aware of the complaints, which are few and far between. Take a look at VRBO and Airbnb for yourself. Click the orange buttons above and scroll to the reviews.

Pros

  • Peace & quiet
  • Hot tub
  • Pet friendly
  • Unbeatable views
  • Great for weddings
  • It’s in Oregon
  • You won’t want to leave

Cons

  • No window blinds
  • A few rattlesnakes in summer
  • Hard to find in the dark
  • The wasted time trying to find negative reviews
  • No jacuzzi tub
  • 20 miles from local businesses
  • You have to leave sometime

I seriously researched the reviews. I have guest books that reflect a very desirable place to stay. The only negative reviews are from people you can’t please, no matter how perfect your hot tub water is or the bed.

It’s not considered one of those luxury homes or resorts like Eagle Crest, but what better location to bring a family with all the amenities?

We never found window blinds necessary because there are no visible neighbors. Rattlesnakes can be scary, but this is the high desert, and we have critters. Over the last 20 years, I’ve had to relocate about half a dozen rattlesnakes.

Many renters come to Pete’s Cabin because it is pet-friendly. However, housekeeping is a lot of extra work, especially for dogs that shed a lot. For that reason, we don’t allow dogs upstairs near all the bedding. I’m not sure what the definition of pet-friendly is; does it mean cats? Sorry, no cats.

Hot tubs are also a serious maintenance problem for housekeeping. When a hot tub needs to be drained and refilled, it takes considerable time, and housekeeping has only a few hours between renters. A hot tub with cloudy water will definitely give us a bad review.
